Meet The Chef
Growing up in Manhattan and New Canaan, CT, from a very early age, ,
Annie Chalkley was exposed to diversity, world class cuisine, the arts, culture, infectious energy and once in a lifetime experiences. Her educational path included an Undergraduate Degree in Fine Arts and Art History from the University of Pennsylvania, a Graduate Certificate from the Accademia Di Belle Arti in Rome and a Graduate M.F.A. degree from Pratt Institute. Annie's studies fostered her inquisitive mind and helped fine tune her creativity and a sensitive eye for that which is beautiful.
As a natural progression after university, with her charismatic personality, wealth of knowledge and desire to share, Annie pursued teaching, first at the University of Delaware, then at the Delaware Art Museum and finally at the Pendleton County Cultural Arts Center in Franklin, WV.
Realizing that in the future, she would be drawn to utilizing her creative skills in some kind of business capacity, when the opportunity arose to work as a manager at the architectural firm of Armstrong/Childs, she jumped at the chance to return to New York. After 3 years, in order to continue learning the art of running a business, she accepted a position as Office Manager and Accountant at the prestigious Design Coalition, Inc.
With all of Annie’s childhood exposure, education, traveling and business experience, she began to realize that her love of cooking exquisitely tasty but healthy, beautifully presented cuisine for friends and family was a common thread that resonated and integrated her skill sets with her passion.
In 1981, Annie took the leap and started her own catering business, PFoods, Etc.(aka. Annie Chalkley Cuisine, Catering, Culinary Instruction and Prepared Foods). The rest is history. From the beginning, through word of mouth, because of her innate sense of taste, her attention to detail, her ability to tune into her customers desires, her emphasis on sourcing fresh ingredients and her creativity, Annie has delighted her cliental with memorable cuisine. She was selected as one of the best caterers in the U.S. by Town and Country magazine. She has contributed her resources and time by providing Thanksgiving meals for children and their families through the charity Noah’s Children. She sold a dinner for 12 for $8,000 to benefit the charity, World Pediatric Project. In 2019, she was honored to be selected as caterer for a cocktail party hosting Museum Directors from all over the USA at Try-Me Gallery in Richmond. Whatever your entertaining needs might be - a wedding reception, an intimate family dinner, using her prepared offerings to give your brunch a special touch - chef Annie Chalkley’s creations are always extraordinary. She is indeed a treasure and wonderful resource in the greater Richmond/Williamsburg area.
